Andy Waters is our leading Oregon lawyer specializing in asbestos cancer cases. For a number of years he practiced in Texas, where he was named a "super-lawyer" on numerous occasions. He started working on asbestos cases as a defense lawyer from 1986 to 1991 and since that time his practice has been almost exclusively devoted to representing injured plaintiff's who suffer from asbestos diseases and/or have passed as a result of asbestos cancer.
Andy graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia in 1981 and also completed a masters degree in government in 1982. He then attended at the University of Houston Law Center, graduating in 1986.
His first job out of law school was for a maritime defense firm, where he began to learn the nuances of personal injury cases resulting from asbestos exposure on board ships. Since 1991, he has continued to work on asbestos cases on the plaintiffs' side, representing workers in various trades and from various locations, including paper mills, power plants, shipyards etc. The one thing his cases have had in common is that the plaintiff was suffering or had died from an asbestos related disease.
Andy's asbestos practice has taken him to many different states as he has represented numerous plaintiffs over the years. Oregon is the fifth jurisdiction where he is now licensed to practice law and has been pleased to join the Nelson McNeil Rayfield firm to assist in its asbestos-related practice.
Andy's results in trial have been impressive, with numerous million dollar plus verdicts over the years. Most recently, he successfully prosecuted the case for a mill worker that resulted in a $5 million verdict in Portland.
Andy was a founding partner of Waters Kraus and Paul in Dallas and continues in an of counsel roll to that firm, working out of its California office.
