Pharyngeal Cancer Attorneys

Oropharyngeal cancer is a disease in which cancer cells form in the tissue of the oropharynx, or the middle part of the throat that includes the base of the tongue, the tonsils, the soft palate, and the walls of the pharynx. Head and neck cancer is rare, with fewer than 200,000 new cases diagnosed each year in the United States. In some cases, pharyngeal cancer can be caused by exposure to asbestos. If you’ve been diagnosed with pharyngeal cancer and think it may be related to asbestos exposure, contact the law office of Nelson MacNeil Rayfield today.

What is Pharyngeal Cancer?

Laryngeal cancer is a disease in which cancer cells form in the tissues of the oropharynx. In most cases, pharyngeal cancer is found and diagnosed because of the symptoms they cause. Tests that examine the throat and neck are used to detect, diagnose, and stage pharyngeal cancer, including a physical exam of the throat and neck, a biopsy, CT scans, MRIs, PET scans, bone scans, and a barium swallow. Once diagnosed, treatment may include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and targeted therapy, and a variety of specialists are often involved. The symptoms of pharyngeal cancer include:

  • Chronic sore throat
  • Ear or jaw pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • A change in voice, or unusual hoarseness
  • Headaches
  • Frequent nose bleeds
  • Ringing in the ears

If you’re experiencing any of the above symptoms and have worked as an electrician, mechanic, carpenter, or may have otherwise been exposed to asbestos, our law firm can help you recover losses.
